My home for two days has been
Rockhound State Park in New Mexico and is located approximately 10 miles southeast of
Deming. The park is located on the western slope of the
Florida Mountains (pronounced flo-rita) and was established because of its interesting geology and was named for the abundance of minerals in the area. Visitors can search for quartz crystals, thunder eggs, geodes, jasper, perlite, opal, agate and many other minerals and are welcome to take 15 pounds of rock per person from the park.
