Medina Lake Thousand Trails RV Resort

I'm now in the "Hill Country" of Texas, just west of San Antonio, TX on the shores of what once was Medina Lake, a reservoir on the Medina River.  See recent news article.

Area: 8.478 sq miles
Surface elevation: 1,063 feet
Length: 18.02 miles
Shore length: 110 miles
Width: 3.107 miles
Inflow source: Medina River

The last time I stayed at this Thousand Trails Resort was 22 years ago and there was water in the lake.  The "30 year Texas drought" has left the lake nothing more than an empty, open valley. There are dozens of "Out of Business" and "Closed" signs that I've seen just in my immediate area on resorts, water sports, fishing, boat sales & service, resturants, etc. Where have all the flowers gone?

OK, no problem

Fish ain't biting today?

A nice drive along the river bed

No Wake Zone!

The campground has thousands of deer living on the 260 acres among the 400 campsites.  The bucks, does, and fawns don't seem to mind the people, vehicles, and RV's living on "their" property.
