The Bureau of Engraving and Printing Western Currency Facility constructed in 1991 is located in Fort Worth, TX. A tour of the facilities begins at the Visitors Center with a security inspection and a short bus ride to the facility. The tour features two floors of exhibits and displays, a movie and a 45 minute walking tour along an enclosed walkway suspended over the production floor. The tour guide explains all the details of the various steps required in the production of paper currency. The day I took the tour they were printing the newly designed 100 dollar bills which are not yet in circulation. Cameras and cell phones were not allowed on the tour.
