San Antonio, TX

It was 22 years ago that I visited San Antonio, TX.  I visited some of the same attractions once again, but nothing looked familiar.  (old age or progress?)  Big city, lots of traffic and new road construction.  Thank goodness for my GPS!!  During my visit to the city, I went to the Alamo, River Walk, HemisFair Park, and Tower of the Americas.  Don't forget to click on the highlighted words for more details.

Remember the Alamo!  Thirteen fateful days in 1836.

River Walk  runs through the heart of San Antonio below street level. A 2.5 mile stretch of walkways along the meandering waterways lined with  big hotels, resturants, specialty shops, and lush sub-tropical landscaping.

HemisFair Park  is a 92 acre area that was the site of San Antino's World's Fair in 1968, which marked the city's 250th anniversary.  It now is the center of downtown recreation and entertainment.

Tower of the Americas  located in HemisFair Park built for the 1968 World's Fair rises 750' "symbolizing the desire for achievement".  An elevator takes you up to an obervation deck and a revolving resturant.  There's also a 4D theater, gift shops, and cafe at ground floor.
