Dwight D. Eisenhower Presidential Museum

The  Eisenhower Presidential Library and Museum  located in his hometown of Abilene, Kansas was built in 1959. The Eisenhower Center includes his Boyhood Home where the Eisenhower's lived from 1898 until mother, Ida Eisenhower died in 1946.  The house is located on its original site and contains all it's original furniture and items left by Mrs. Eisenhower. A Visitors Center, Museum, Library & Archives, an 11 foot bronze statue of General Eisenhower, and Place of Meditation which houses the grave sites for Dwight and Mamie Eisenhower.   Also at the museum while I was there, was the Smithsonian Institution Traveling Exihibitions and the Smithsonian's National Portrait Gallery with an exibition called "Elvis at 21" of photos taken by Alfred Wertheimer.  Photographs were not allowed but there is a web site: http://www.shows2go.si.edu/elvis/
